Gynecological robotic surgery has seen significant growth in Asia. With the development of robotic technology and the increasing understanding of robotic systems among patients and surgeons, many open surgeries and laparoscopic procedures are now being replaced by robotic surgeries. The GRS Journal aims to introduce a variety of new devices being integrated into the surgical field. In this issue, we showcase the latest robot from Da Vinci 5 (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), including its hardware and software features, along with initial experiences. Furthermore, this series will continue to cover other robotic surgical instruments in subsequent issues.
With the introduction of these diverse advanced robotic systems, establishing national robotic surgery societies in each country is essential. These societies play a critical role in educating new surgeons and representing their nations by gathering robotic surgeons to study new surgical methods, develop innovative techniques, and standardize procedures. Currently, several countries in Asia have gynecological robotic surgery societies that communicate with the Asian Society of Gynecological Robotic Surgery (ASGRS) and the European Society of Robotic Gynecological Surgery (SERGS).
We hope that more national gynecological robotic surgery societies will be established in the future, bringing together surgeons to share their experiences and providing education to nurture more robotic surgeons. This will contribute to advancing the field of robotic surgery and ensuring the effective implementation of these cutting-edge technologies.
